Root Canals

At Lone Peak Dental, we make every effort to help you preserve your natural teeth. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort from a badly damaged or infected tooth, a root canal would likely be the preferred course of treatment.

During the root canal process, the inflamed pulp (the connective tissue within the center of a tooth) is removed. The interior surfaces of the tooth are then cleaned and disinfected, and a filling or crown is placed to seal the tooth from further damage or infection. A root canal may be needed if the inside of your tooth becomes inflamed from:

  • deep decay

  • repeated dental procedures

  • faulty crowns

  • an abscess

  • severe cracks/chips

Overall, a root canal is an easier process with minimum discomfort, therefore preserving your natural tooth and helping to prevent more costly and potentially life-threatening complications. If properly cared for, root canals have a high success rate and the results can last a lifetime.
